Toronto's Jack Maple mashes five hits
KANSAS CITY - Jack Maple hits
'em where they ain't. Kansas City certainly agrees
as Toronto's second baseman unloaded five hits, adding
to his reputation of being one of the best pure hitters
in the game. Number 1 in the 1st inning accounted for
a double. In the 3rd inning he belted a RBI double
off Alfred Betz. A pitch from
Eric Wood in the 6th inning left
his bat for a solo homerun, landing 353 feet from home
plate in left field. He had singles in the 4th and
in the 7th inning (one RBI). Jack did drive in 3 while
scoring 3 runs on his own. His 5 hit performance increases
his batting average to .311. Toronto improved its record
to 86-45, scoring 11 runs on 17 hits.
